Dead Jíbaros Productions is a an Performing Arts,and Theatrical production company who's scope is the creation and performance of classic, and new theatrical bilingual plays rooted in Puerto Rican/Latino diaspora culture. The company was founded by Éric-Dominique Pérez, President & CEO.
Mission
Our mission is to educate, acquaint, and share with the general public conflicts of Latinos culture who reside in urban communities within the United States.This is done by exposing topics of dealing with diaspora, social, race and gender issues with a diverse audience, by creating work that speaks to communities today in truly bilingual English/Spanish professional theatre, meanwhile preserving the rich PuertoRican/Latino heritage for generations that follow .
History
Dead Jíbaros Productions was founded in March of 2011. The first play produced by Dead Jíbaros Productions was the tri-state touring award nominee one man show El Gringuito written and performed by Éric-Dominique Pérez which won the 2011 the ONE festival for best solo show. The second play was Mamet’s Jala-la-Pala (Speed the Plow) limited engagement in Puerto Rico 2015. 2018 hosted the new solo piece written & performed by Eric-Dominique Perez Brave Lord a Tribute to the Young Lords.
Our productions have been presented to full houses in Off-Off Broadway theatres in the Tri-State; Theatre Row, HERE Theatre, Teatro LA TEA, William Musto Cultural Center, El Corralon de San Jose, Puerto Rico and multiple outdoors Tri-State city parks.
